I’ve booked a portrait session, where are we doing the photos?
In general I like to let the client choose the location for the photography. Choosing a place that has some sort of meaning is always a good option, or even somewhere that is new – exploring somewhere different will add to your excitement. Otherwise I can help you find a location, either somewhere I like to shoot or would like to try for something new.
What do I wear?
The most important thing is choosing clothing for a photography session is to wear something that reflects you! It needs to be comfortable, be something similar to what you’d normally wear (we want pictures of “you”) but many clients will dress up a bit more dressy. If you have a full length session (1-2 hours) feel free to bring more than one option: something dressy and something more casual. Stay away from large logos and distracting patterns. Also take into consideration where you will be taking the photos: if you are downtown, dress more urban and trendy, if you’re out in the forest lean towards a rural look.
If you’re not doing a solo photo session – as in engagement or family photos, make sure that your outfits work well together but do not overly match (unless you want to go for a comical look). Staying within the same colour families is great, ex: everyone wears a bit of blue, but not all the same blue shirt. I can send you some examples of setting up clothing for your family.
